collected in the 20th century in the Yorkshire Dales.
Interpreted from the book “There Was None of this Lazy Dancing” by local Gayle musician/historian, Bob Ellis.

Dance at Hawes Market House - Dancing Around the Dales
Friday, 9 May, 2025 6:30-10:00Celebrating the old dances and tunes of the Yorkshire Dales.
Come and enjoy an evening of dancing (barn dance/ceilidh style) traditional Dales dance sets to tunes from the Dales played by The No Lazy Dancing Dance Band.
No experience necessary as you will be taught and led through
the dances by the caller.
Bring your own refreshments.

Yorkshire’s 4th Heritage Summit
Tuesday, 13 May, 2025 10am – 4pmThe Dales Traditional Music and Dance Collective will have a table at this celebration of Yorkshire culture.
There are also talks, guided walks, the wonderful Craven Museum (free of charge) on the same floor to visit and even the possibility of a music session in one of the Skipton pubs if someone organises it.
